Central Market is always a busy place where you can buy wonderful fruits and vegetables. [23, 2004]

Bonegi beach is the main beach of Honiara, it takes about 20 minutes to go there by car. Usually there are quite a lot of people, but nevertheless it is a beautiful place and always a welcome change after Mendana Avenue. There are a lot of WWII shipwrecks along the coast of Guadalcanal and it is interesting to dive there. [23, 2004]

The Mataniko River discharges into the sea right beside the hospital, and the last part of it is a rather dirty affair. But it starts as a clear stream in the jungle about a two-hour walk from the hospital and flows north in beautiful cascades.[23, 2004]

Maravagi is a really beautiful and secluded resort in the Central Province. Tulagi is the former capital of the country and is just opposite Honiara on the other side of the Iron Bottom Sound. [23, 2004]

The trip from Honiara to Maravagi takes about 90 minutes in an outboard-powered boat.

Tulaghi Island is small, you can circle it in about two hours, but diving there is great, I have never seen so many fish in one place. We just joined the shoals of fish and busily bypassed the sharks.
The ferry to Honiara is supposed to leave at 3am, but is always late. We decided to get up at four and went down to the wharf. It was still too early: the captain decided to turn up at half past five. But nobody really cares, people just sit down and wait. I'm glad I do not have to go through this every week. The ferry was covered with rust and suspiciously lopsided, nevertheless, three hours and a beautiful sunrise later we arrived in Honiara without any problems.
